Media campaign puts EU space project in global spotlight

06 January 2025
Campaign to promote EU-backed space research secures 124 articles in 33 countries.

Our media campaign has brought international recognition to Europe’s premier photonics technology platform, Photonics21, by capturing the attention of prominent global media publications.

Promoting the new INPHOMIR project, which is looking to expand adventures in the cosmos with space-age laser technology, Matter PR engaged with tier-1 media outlets across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East. The team secured coverage in leading publications such as Reuters, MSN, Yahoo, Baidu, The Hindustan Times, Daily Mail, The Next Web, VOI (in French, English, and Arabic editions), US News & World Report, 3DNews.ru, El Español, and many high-traffic tech websites across the globe.

With a compelling narrative and tailored messaging that resonated with tech enthusiasts and policymakers alike, our campaign generated multi-lingual coverage, with articles published in multiple languages, including English, French, Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, Bulgarian, Russian, and Swedish.

The EU-backed INPHOMIR consortium is developing sensors to help satellites navigate with precision and enable drones to fly further for longer.

Elisa Mecks, technology consultant at Photonics21, said: “The multi-lingual media coverage coordinated by Matter PR has highlighted the significance of EU-funded light science and technologies to a number of stakeholders in different geographies.

“Through meticulous planning and targeted outreach, the Matter PR team managed to secure a hit with some of the world’s most influential media platforms around the world. This visibility is crucial for promoting EU-funded research and fostering collaboration across the scientific community and beyond. The visibility of photonics is also crucial to demonstrate the importance of this key enabling technology for Europe’s strategic autonomy and economic security. ”

By raising the profile of the INPHOMIR project, we have helped to showcase Europe’s leadership in scientific innovation and technology development. This widespread recognition has helped to underscore the EU’s commitment to advancing cutting-edge research and bolster its position in the global tech landscape.

Sam Young, account director and head of content and media at Matter PR, said: “Great science and technological excellence will always promote themselves, but we are proud to have played a modest role in bringing this important project to a global audience. Our campaign for Photonics21 and the European Commission shows the power of media engagement in amplifying scientific achievements.”

The campaign has demonstrated Matter PR’s delivery of impactful media strategies for scientific organisations. By securing global coverage, we highlighted the innovative work of Photonics21 while reinforcing Europe’s role as a leader in technological advancements.
